Our Story Telling Sessions are a wonderful way to help children engage with storytelling and bringing a good book to life
Flying Pickle Story Telling Sessions can be adapted for children of any age. We explore the themes of a tale through by using more than the words on the page. Our sessions encourage the use of children’s sight, touch, and sound to develop their understanding of story.
We use Makaton and well known & loved nursery rhythms and songs helps to engage and keep the children’s interest. This encourages them to interact with the story, their caregivers, and their peers.
Our Approach
Flying Pickle Story Telling Sessions are developed around the idea that story telling helps communication, understanding and speech. Sessions are accessible to all children and are tailored to specific needs and requirements. We run sessions locally in Kingston-Upon-Thames for Under 5s for both mainstream and SEN children. Sessions for children up to 10 years old are available on request.
Our sessions are typically 60 mins long. All session include a chance for free play, exploration, peer interaction as well as a themed story. Using Makaton and well known & loved nursery rhythms and songs allows us to engage and keep the children’s interest. These aspects of creative play within in the story telling encourage the children to interact with the story, their caregivers, and their peers.
Flying Pickle Story Telling is available for hire and will accommodate private parties and family celebrations.
Our sessions are inclusive, accessible, and affordable. Sessions for under 5s are typically 60 minutes to ensure concentration levels remain high. Longer sessions for older children (up to 10 years) can be arranged on request.
Sessions are run by our head of theatre, Georgie Devereaux. Prices start at £90 for a 60 minute session within the Kingston-Upon-Thames area.
